Challenge by Choice: The Ropes Course

If you are at summer camp, just about everyone spends time on the ropes course. We have an excellent high ropes course which is everything 40 feet of the ground, including our climbing tower. Our low ropes course is a good set up of ground level obstacles and is complimented by many portable initiatives which can happen just about everywhere.

At the core of any good ropes course experience lies a "challenge by choice" philosophy. This means if a camper does not want to climb 40 feet up a tree on belay, they don't have to. It is to no ones benefit to force anyone into an experience they are not invested in.

To go beyond "challenge by choice", staff will constantly check in with a camper that is opting out of an opportunity. Whether with a gentle word, a kind joke, or reverse psychology, our staff are invested in "you" the camper. We want "you" to succeed, and we know there are many reasons for being nervous. So this is our way of helping you go to the next level!

Almost any sane person would be nervous climbing into a tree or lofty locale, but how you feel afterwards is the good stuff. The sense of accomplishment is something stays with you for a long time, and makes that next daunting challenge even more

    Chance Favors the Prepared Mind!

This blog is intended to share the important details that only experienced campers know. Everything from cell phones, swimsuits, and horses will be covered!

Oswegatchie is a TEEN camp! It takes more maturity and responsibility than younger campers may be ready to assume. Hopefully this blog will help you make sure camp is the right fit for each individual camper. We want everyone to have a great camp experience, but the old adage "Chance Favors the Prepared Mind" is very true. Do your part and make sure Oswegatchie is the right place!
