2 parts to highlight: the immunization record and listing of medical conditions
The immunization record is important “if” there is exposure to an illness like measles or chicken pox. Most youth today have up to date immunizations, but by listing what a child has, we can respond quicker to those who are not immunized. This is a detail that has not been a problem for us, but we prepare for it anyways.
The medical condition listing is your first line of protection for your child when you can not be there to communicate for them. Something simple like sleep walking is kind of a big deal in the woods. Other things like convulsions, eating disorders, or skin problems can be responded to better, when we have the information.
In addition, if your child has medical conditions or allergies beyond what most other kids have, a legible written or typed note is helpful for articulating the issue. This additional piece of paper goes a long way to “red flagging” issues and helping us find these details faster. Contact us in advance if it helps!
If your child has food allergies, feel free to contact us before you child arrives at camp. Depending on the severity, this changes our menu to provide great meals or an alternative to what is being served.
Thank you for your help, in making Oswegatchie a great place to spend time.
