Oswegatchie's "Counselors in Training" Program

Picture
Picture
Oswegatchie has become more stringet with our "Counselor in Training" (CIT) program. The criteria is as follows:
  • Must be a 2nd year camper and be 16 years of age or older.
  • Must be willing to be placed in a younger / different campsite then you normally would be by age.
  • Must take a 3 hour "Counselor in Training" class with either the camp director or summer staff veteran.
  • Create and Participate in a "Reflections" for the entire camp.

We are intentionally looking for older campers in order to build better future staff and have more “one on one focus” with them. I do realize we may have less C.I.Ts than possible, but it gives better focus to those that meet the criteria

Your responsibilities will be as follows:
  • Assist counselor with supervision at campsite
  • Assist with campsite management at meals, bells, skits, and campsite specific tasks.
  • Assist campers in campsite clean up and morning details.
  • Use your best "soft skills" to help campers work together instead of against each other.
  • CITs do not replace proper trained supervision, but help make camp better.
