Summer Camp Employment
Oswegatchie Educational Center hires approximately fifty seasonal staff to be part of our team for roughly nine consecutive weeks from June 10th to August 9th. All program staff will receive Wilderness First Aid training and Basic Life Support (CPR) that is coordinated and provided by Oswegatchie. In addition to these certificate trainings for program staff, all staff are required to participate in 90 hours of paid staff training to learn our policies, procedures, and how to lead our activities. Housing, meals, and internet are provided to all staff that commit to our facility for their summer employment. Staff have general access to the facility on their off time and are allowed to have approved guests on site during their time off when no groups are present on site. Wages for seasonal staff (counselor, dishwasher, food service assistant, and other general positions) range from $400 to $550 per week depending on the position you apply for and your qualifications. Applicants for the director positions (medical, maintenance, food service, equine, ropes, and assistant program) range from $600-$1,100 per week depending on the position you apply for, qualifications and skill set. Summer Employment Applicants
Minimum qualifying requirements to work here are:
- High School Graduate or equivalent (GED)
- Age 17 and older (exceptions have been made for certain positions)
- Ability to be away from home for an extended period
- Ability to share a living space with other employees
- 18 and older
- Have been out of high school for a year (college student between freshman and sophomore year, young working professionals)
- Outdoor enthusiast
- Have worked with youth previously
Items to Complete Prior to Applying
- A resume that can be uploaded into the application form.
- A reference document containing information on three references. Be sure to include their full name, relation to you, contact phone number, and email.
- Have any certifications or licenses (lifeguard, CPR, Nursing License, EMT, etc.) ready to upload into the application form. Not all applicants will need to complete this step.
